IDLY UMPA...

idly umpa... my favorite dish with the leftover idly's... and the best for those who hate idly's like me...

TIME TAKEN: 20, SERVES: 2
INGREDIENTS:

IDLY’S (PREFERABLY RAVA IDLY’S)
4
ONION
1 (FINELY CHOPPED)
CHILI’S
2 (FINELY CHOPPED)
CURRY LEAVES
10
TURMERIC POWDER
A PINCH
SALT
TO TASTE
MUSTARD SEEDS
½ TSP
BENGAL GRAM
½ TSP
BLACK GRAM
½ TSP

METHOD:

Ø  Take the idly’s into plate and crumble the idly’s as shown in the pic below.

Ø  Heat oil in a kadai, temper mustard seeds, Bengal gram, black gram and add onions and chili’s and saute them until raw smell disappears. Now add curry leaves and saute it for a minute.

Ø  Now add salt, turmeric powder and saute it for 1 mins, add the crumbled idly’s  and stir everything well together for 2 mins. Off the gas.

Serve it hot…

SUGGESTIONS:

ü  You can also add peanuts to the tempering if desired.

ü  Crushed ginger can be also added before adding onions.
