ONION CHICKEN (SEMI GRAVY)...

one of my favorite chicken recipes... flavored with onions and curry leaves..

PREP TIME: 15 MINS, COOKING TIME: 20 – 30 MINS, SERVES: 2

INGREDIENTS:

CHICKEN
200 GRAMS
ONIONS
4 MEDIUM (SLICED)
GASA GASA (POPPY SEEDS)
1 TSP
GINGER GARLIC PASTE
2 TSP
TURMERIC POWDER
½ TSP
CHILI POWDER
2 TSP
SALT
TO TASTE
CURRY LEAVES
HAND FULL
CORIANDER POWDER
11/2 TSP
GARAM MASALA
1 TSP.

METHOD:

Ø  Clean and wash the chicken and keep it aside. Soak the poppy seeds in 1 tbsp of water for 15 mins and grind it into fine paste.

Ø  Heat oil in a kadai, add onions and fry them till dark brown.  Now add ginger garlic paste and saute it.

Ø  Now add chicken, salt, chili powder and turmeric powder and saute it for 5 mins.

Ø  Now add gasa gasa paste, coriander powder, 1 cup water stir it, cover it with a lid and cook it on low flame until the chicken is cooked completely. (stir periodically)

Ø  Once the chicken is cooked, add curry leaves, garam masala and on high flame stir the chicken continuously for 2 – 3 mins and turn off the flame.

SUGGESTIONS:

ü  You can also squeeze few drops of lemon juice in the end if desired.

ü  If you want the dish to be more dry, after adding curry leaves stir it on high flame for longer time than I mentioned it above.
