METHOD:
Ø Take
cleaned fish in a vessel, add chili powder, salt, turmeric powder, tamarind
pulp and mix them completely.
Ø Heat
4 – 5 tbsps. Of oil in a kadai, temper mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Now add
onions, fry till light brown, add curry leaves and then add tomatoes and cook
till soft.
Ø Add
the cooked tomatoes to the fish mix and 1 ½ - 2 cups water, cover it with a lid
and cook it on a high flame till it starts boiling. Now open the lid, taste it
and add red chili powder and salt if required. (If you feel the gravy is too
sour you can add water to adjust the sourness at these stage).
Ø Cover
it again with the lid and cook it on a medium flame until fish cooks and gravy
gets thicker. Add butter in the end and off the gas.
SUGGESTIONS:
ü Stir
it carefully, so that the fish doesn’t break. Usually I don’t use spatula to
mix it, I hold the vessel with hands and shake it so that everything gets mixed
well.
